Step 1: Property Evaluation

Our first step is to take a look at your property. We’ll take accurate measurements, including grading measurements and any elevation changes, to create a to-scale blueprint of your space. Sprinkler system design and accurate watering rely on several factors, including how water moves on your property. This, plus the moisture sensors required by Minnesota state regulations, ensures your landscaping gets the water it needs without overwatering.

We also take note of any existing landscaping! All plants have different water requirements, so our irrigation system design accommodates areas of your property that need more or less water. This extends to both in-ground and drip irrigation installations.

Step 2: Zoning

Once we have your property mapped, it’s time to determine your sprinkler zones. Few properties have the water pressure and capacity to water everything at once, so we utilize zones to maximize water usage in our sprinkler system designs.

Step 3: Sprinkler Optimization

We use the “head-to-head” coverage rule of thumb, which assumes the water stream from one sprinkler head reaches the next. By overlapping the sprinkler arcs like this, you get maximum water retention and shorter zone timings.

Once your sprinkler system design is complete, we send it to you for final approval.
